We hope you’re all keeping safe and well during these uncertain times.

Situations are changing rapidly, and that means the way we offer our services to you are too.

As a valued client, we want to let you know that we’re still…. going above and beyond to make sure we offer the service you need from us, at a time when it matters the most.

We know that things aren’t easy, but we also know that keeping the whole family healthy, including our pets is of utmost importance to us all at the moment.

Most of you will now be at home more, practising social distancing or self-isolating due to illness. Many of you will also have children spending more time at home than usual at this time.

We all have a lot of things to deal with right now.

To help ensure pet health concerns, flea infestations and worms aren’t one of them, we are doing all we can to help.

We are taking the steps below to ensure our excellent standard of care remains the same just offered in a way that reflects the current times:

Online video consultations with a vet

You will soon be able to book remote consults with one of us, and we will let you know as soon as this is available. Until then, please email us at admin@wooltonvets.co.uk or call us on 0151 428 8600 if you need advice.

Once we launch the online consults, we will:

  • Discuss your pet’s condition and if possible, make an assessment and advise how to treat it. Medication may be dispensed
  • If necessary, advise that an appointment at the practice is required and we will schedule one.
  • If you need a subsequent consultation at the practice, there will be a small additional charge for this.

FREE delivery of your flea and worm treatment and other vital essentials

To keep your family well, we have set up a home delivery service for your flea and worm treatments, repeat medications and food.

If you’d like to order any food or need repeat medications, pet food or flea and worm treatment, please email us at admin@wooltonvets.co.uk  giving us as much notice as possible so we can plan our routes. We aim to deliver within 72hrs of your order.

Please be assured that our team will be taking the utmost care to protect themselves and you and will be handling the products prepared for you with gloved hands.

Routine health checks, appointments and vaccinations

We are still open and we are still here for advice and phone/video consultations if you need us. We are only seeing emergency or critical cases during this time to reduce risk to the public and our staff but Alex and Sarah can help guide you and if your pet needs seeing, can talk you through the process.

The Government has stressed the need to limit leaving your home, and this includes unnecessary visits to the veterinary practice. For this reason, we have made some changes to comply with these regulations, while doing our utmost to provide veterinary care for your pets to the best of our ability. These new regulations mean we need to postpone ALL vaccinations, including 1st and 2nd vaccinations and annual boosters.

If you have a puppy or kitten, you need to keep them confined to your property until restrictions are lifted. For any tips, tricks or advice on socialisation, diet, insurance or caring for your puppy/kitten/rabbit then please call to speak to one of our nurses.

For older pets, we would not routinely restart a vaccination course unless the vaccines were overdue by 3-6 months. We appreciate that it is far from ideal to postpone, but the risk to an adult pet if they are overdue vaccination by 3-6 months is very low and has to be balanced against the risk of you attending the practice.

Please rest assured that we will keep monitoring the situation and will restart these services as soon as it’s safe for both you and us.

Urgent Appointments at the practice

  • If your pet has an urgent problem or an emergency, please call us – do not just attend the practice without an appointment.
  • You can no longer visit the veterinary practice unless you have contacted us, and we have scheduled an appointment.
  • Once you have a scheduled appointment, call us from the car or from outside once you arrive. We will take your pet from you at the entrance to the practice and treat them appropriately – this may require admitting your pet for investigations or possibly an operation depending on what is required. It may be that you go home while this happens and we contact you to arrange a time to collect your pet later in the day.

You can no longer come to the practice to collect repeat prescriptions without contacting the practice beforehand. Please call ahead so that we can have the medication ready to collect from a chair/table to minimise contact.

If we have dispensed medications for your pet as a result of a video consultation and they need collecting promptly, we will contact you to schedule a time to collect the medications. We will take payment over the phone at the time of booking and then hand the products to you at the door when you arrive.

We’ve had a lot of questions about how COVID-19 can impact our pets –  (Check out the coronavirus FAQs blog) – we will be regularly keeping in touch with you to answer these and to let you know any changes in the practice, and to the way we do things. Please keep an eye on our website and social media for further updates and information.

We know that things aren’t easy, but our commitment to your family remains the same. We will continue to look after you all in whatever way is possible and required by the circumstances and are making daily adjustments to our processes to ensure this continues.

If you have any questions or would just like some advice, please contact us on 0151 428 8600 or admin@wooltonvets.co.uk, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

With best wishes,
Alex, Sarah and all the team at Woolton Veterinary Centre
